I purchased this book having had the privilege of knowing Shaun when I attended the Unversity of Miami. As a serial entrepreneur, hustler, and now author, I can honestly say he embodies the principles put forth in this book that will stand the test of time. "There's no such thing as luck" is bs. Everyone gets a break, an opportunity that arises that is unique and unique to them alone which sets them forth on his or her path. But luck can be engineered (be ready, be able), personal brands and reputation are a necessity (be brand), and executing are a few of the topics and principles that Shaun presents. Highly recommend for any aspiring entrepreneur to prepare themselves for life - and what that means today in 2018.
This book could not have come in a more perfect time than on the cusp of a New Year - a time for setting new goals and resolutions and planning practical steps of how to achieve them! As a young professional who recently graduated from college and has joined the corporate world working for a Fortune 100 company, I'm thankful to the author for inspiring and, most importantly, equipping me to achieve my goals and get tangible results in 2018. The practical advices that Shaun shares in his book are invaluable, especially given his extensive hands-on experience in the entertainment industry. Practical advices, easy-to-understand approach, millennial's mindset - all these attributes makes this book a great read for anyone who wants to learn and stay current with what is Really working in order to succeed! From the first page you will be learning new practical skills, such as an importance of focusing on "delivering the value" vs. having a vague goal to succeed. I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a practical advice that actually works "in the rea; world!"
Personally I think the main problem with self help books is their tone. When I read one it's like the voice of a monotone college professor in your head telling you what you must do. Shaun Gold isn't some boring professor. This guys does a hell of a job of making it seem like you're hearing advice from a friend who's done it, who's succeeded.
He breaks it down in an easy way with a series of tips that don't cause you to go out a RADICALLY change your life for a few weeks until you're over it. No, instead he tells you in so many words to use those 15 minutes before bed a little more wisely. He tells you things of a practical nature and how being bold and standing out will go a lot further than fitting in.
Aside from that you're treated to great quotes from names we all know. It's good to be reminded of those and trust me, more than one will stay in your mind. Do yourself a favor a pick up this book.
